WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA
The Commissionerate Women and Child Development Department Pune Maharashtra is
functioning for Social and Economic Empowerment of women and children through various
policies and programmes. This includes creating awareness, mainstreaming gender concerns,
providing institutional and legal support for enabling the needy women and children to
develop to their full potential. The Commissionerate Women and Child Development
Department Pune Maharashtra significantly functions to implement legislations, policies,
programmes and schemes for social and economic empowerment of women and protection
and also development of children. The department has implemented the Integrated Child
Protection Scheme i.e. ICPS and Adoption process which significantly contributed to the
realization of Government/State responsibility for creating a system that will
efficiently and effectively protect children.
The Commissionerate Women and Child Development Department Pune Maharashtra has
significantly contributed in setting up and control the rehabilitation homes for
women and children such as Children Homes, Shelter Homes for Women, Observation Homes,
Special Adoption Agencies, After Care Homes and so on. The Commissionerate Women and
Child Development Department Pune Maharashtra mainly coordinates with the parent
department, other govt. departments, govt. of India for convergence of programmes
relating to women and children and also skill upgradation for employment to the asset
less and marginalized women and improves access of women to micro credit finance and
also Women’s Welfare Schemes and implementation of the POSH DV Act for women’s
protection and empowerment and implementation of ITPA for monitoring.
